About SubZero
SubZero is a free, browser-based tool for removing captions and subtitles from video files. No signup, no watermark, and nothing you upload — your video never leaves your device.
Why we built it
Anyone who edits video knows the problem: a clip has burned-in or embedded captions you don't want, and most "caption removal" tools either require expensive software, force you to upload your footage to an unknown server, or slap a watermark on the result. SubZero runs the entire process locally in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm, so your files stay private and the tool stays free.
What SubZero does
SubZero offers four ways to deal with unwanted captions:
- Strip — removes toggleable subtitle tracks instantly
- Crop — cuts the caption region off the frame
- Black-out — covers captions with a solid black bar
- Blur — blurs the caption region so text is unreadable
